Built around the energy you have today

Check in, see what fits, bank the small wins. Everything else in BALAY supports one of those three.

Energy check-in

Start with how you actually are

Five states, named rather than scored: Flat, Foggy, Steady, Charged, Manic. A check-in takes a couple of taps, and it's the one thing BALAY asks of you. Everything else follows from it.

  • No wearable needed. You know how you are better than a wrist sensor does.
  • Check in once a day or five times. Both are fine.
  • Over a few weeks your check-ins build an energy map, and that's where the useful part starts.
Tasks, My Day and habits

Sorted by the energy they take, not by when they're due

On a foggy afternoon you see the foggy-afternoon jobs. The heavy ones wait, quietly, until there's something to do them with.

  • Today, All tasks, and Missions for anything with more than one part.
  • “One thing for now” gives you a single pick when the whole list is too much to look at.
  • My Day puts tasks, habits and calendar in one timeline, up to thirty days ahead.
  • Habits with the pressure taken out. A skipped day stays neutral.
Sumi

A companion that remembers what you told it

Sumi is the calm voice inside BALAY, there when you want it and quiet when you don't. Over time it holds your check-ins and the challenges you've named, so you're not explaining yourself from scratch.

  • Ask for a smaller step. That's the most useful thing you can ask for.
  • Sumi reflects rather than instructs, and won't tell you what to do with your day.
  • Sumi is an AI. Not a person, not a clinician, not therapy.
Daily score

A score that only ever goes up

Your day gets a number out of 100 that rises as you bank small wins. On a flat day, resting is the thing that lifts it most. Nothing you skip is held against you, and tomorrow starts clean.

  • Matching your energy is the biggest single lift, whichever direction that points.
  • After the first few weeks it measures against your own patterns rather than an average.
  • Every driver is visible, so there are no mystery dips to puzzle over.

Brain dump and breathing

For when the day is loud inside your head

Brain dump is a blank page for everything in your head, so you can put it down somewhere. Breathing is a small set of guided exercises for the moments in between.

  • Both are on the Free plan.
  • Neither asks you to organise anything.
Apple Health and Health Connect

Optional context, never a requirement

Connect Apple Health on iPhone, or Health Connect on Android, to add sleep, steps, exercise, and heart rate variability to the picture. Everything still works on what you log in the app.

  • No wearable needed.
  • Health Connect on Android is coming in a later update. Until then, you log the same things by hand.
  • Turn it off again at any point.

Cycle tracking

See your energy and focus alongside your cycle

Optional, and off by default. The research is still emerging and no two people run the same way, but for many people with ADHD focus and mood shift across the cycle, and the days before a period are often harder than the period itself. Switch it on and BALAY works out where you are, on your device, so your phase sits beside your energy as context for the day.

  • On iPhone for now, with Android to follow through Health Connect. Reads your period days from Apple Health, or log them in BALAY. Your phase and a rough estimate of your next period are worked out on your device, and the raw days never leave it.
  • Natural cycle, hormonal contraception, perimenopause or post-menopause: pick the one that fits, so the picture fits you.
  • Letting Sumi use your cycle phase is a separate choice. When it is on, Sumi gets a short phrase like "late luteal", never the underlying dates.
  • Turn it off, or delete your cycle data, whenever you want. It never diagnoses anything, and it never scores your day by your cycle.

About the score, Sumi and the states

Because on a low-energy day, rest is the action that matches. Research suggests people with ADHD do their best work when activity fits their current energy, so when your energy is low, looking after yourself counts for more than pushing through.

Your feeling is the truth. The score reflects what was logged, and it never overrides your own read on your day.

The conversational companion inside BALAY. Sumi is an AI companion, not a clinician, and holds what you’ve shared before, so conversations build rather than reset.

Cycle tracking is optional and off by default. On iPhone it reads your period days from Apple Health, or you log them in the app, and works out your phase on your device. Android follows through Health Connect. Leave it off and nothing else changes.

Notifications are deliberately sparse, and there’s a single switch to turn them off entirely.

Flat, Foggy, Steady, Charged and Manic. Named rather than numbered, because a number invites you to score yourself and a name invites you to recognise yourself. A check-in is two taps.

Start with one check-in

That's the whole first step. The rest can wait until it's useful.
